Access Chapter 2 was honoured to be represented at GiveOut’s Pride Celebration 2025 by our Executive Director, Keneilwe Zulu.
In her address, Ms. Zulu provided a strategic overview of the current landscape of LGBTQIA+ advocacy in South Africa. She reflected on the significant progress made in advancing the human rights of LGBTQIA+ people, while also unpacking ongoing challenges in the sector.
A central part of her message focused on the impact of recent US funding cuts on community-led initiatives. She emphasised how these reductions have threatened essential programming and the sustainability of grassroots work.
Crucially, Ms. Zulu also acknowledged GiveOut’s role in helping Access Chapter 2 remain operational during this critical time. Through timely and flexible support, GiveOut enabled us to continue advocating, organising, and delivering services when it mattered most.
Her participation at this global event reaffirms our commitment to international solidarity and to securing lasting change for LGBTQIA+ people everywhere.
