Mmapaseka Steve Letsike
Champion for Human Rights and Founder of Access Chapter 2 (AC2)
Access Chapter 2 was founded by renowned South African human rights activist Steve Letsike. She is well known for her dedication to advancing social justice, equality, and dignity, especially for marginalised and disadvantaged groups. Steve Letsike, as the founder of Access Chapter 2, has been instrumental in creating and directing initiatives that emphasise activism, community development, and human rights awareness. To solve social issues and raise awareness of human rights and duties, AC2 works directly with communities. Under her direction, AC2 has carried out a number of programs meant to empower people and build stronger communities. These include outreach initiatives, workshops, awareness campaigns, and support services that deal with issues like inequality, discrimination, HIV, and gender-based violence and femicide (GBVF).
These initiatives have given vulnerable women, young girls, and LGBTI+ individuals access to resources, information, and support that enhance their lives. Additionally, Steve Letsike’s work focuses on encouraging inclusivity and making sure that everyone is treated with dignity and respect, regardless of background. Her initiatives have helped build safe places and more supportive environments, as well as increased knowledge of the rights of vulnerable groups, such as women and the LGBTI+ community. She has been actively involved in interacting with stakeholders, including government agencies, civil society organisations, and community organisations, in addition to spearheading programs.
These partnerships have increased the effect of AC2’s work and enabled it to reach additional communities. Her commitment to social transformation and community empowerment is evident in her leadership. Steve Letsike’s commitment to human rights advocacy and the creation of a more inclusive society continues to motivate others. Steve Letsike’s work at Access Chapter 2 is essential to the advancement of human rights. On July 3, 2024, Steve Letsike was named South Africa’s Deputy Minister of Women, Youth, and Persons with Disabilities. After being elected to the National Assembly, she was sworn in as a member of the National Executive of the 7th administration. Her vision and leadership continue to propel significant change, improving the lives of numerous people and communities.
