In 2012, Access Chapter (AC2) will host Advocacy week, a high-level meeting and activities that will bring together Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Intersex (LGBTI+) activists across South Africa. The meeting takes place in Gauteng and aims to:
- Bring together LGBTI+ activists to create platforms for networking, information and knowledge sharing, and experiences.
- Capacitate LGBTI+ activists through high level engagement with stakeholders in the fields of law, social and political science, creative arts, psychology, economics, and healthcare.
- Enhance networks and create solidarity in the implementation of the human rights of LGBTI+ people.
AC2 Advocacy week 2019 starts on 24th September 2019 – 28 September 2019 with workshops and training sessions with activists. The week will also include meetings with relevant government stakeholders, international agencies, influencers, and media.
AC2 works to protect and promote the human rights of LGBTI+. Activists who identify as LGBTI+ or allies are encouraged to apply.
If you are an LGBTI+ activist and feel that you or your organisation will benefit from attending advocacy week, please complete the following questionnaire. Your answers will assist us with the selection process and in the development on the engagement approach.
The application deadline is 3 September 2019. With questions or concerns, please write to firstname.lastname@example.org
